Cost recovery

Many homeowners do not know there are cost recovery measures available in the State of New Jersey for remediating environmental issues. These measures, when performed correctly, can save you thousands of dollars.

At Firstech Environmental we use our extensive experience and cost recovery measures to minimize or eliminate costs to our clients for oil tank related environmental issues.

Homeowner insurance (insurance recovery)

The situation
Insurance coverage for cleanup costs associated with leaking residential oil tanks may depend on the language and interpretation of the individual policy. It has been Firstech Environmental’s experience that if a third party has been impacted–meaning groundwater or an off-site property–the homeowner can file a claim with their residential insurance carrier.

How Firstech can help
By documenting that a site has a third party impact, Firstech Environmental can substantially reduce or eliminate the costs to the homeowner associated with the site cleanup.

There are situations where an insurance carrier may make this difficult for you regarding your coverage. Firstech Environmental’s background and experience will help you to document the third party impact and ultimately attempt to sustain insurance recovery measures.

NJDEP grants & loans save you money

The purpose
The NJDEP has made grants and low interest loans available to provide financial assistance to close, upgrade, or remediate a tank.

Who pays
The NJDEP uses New Jersey law (P.L. 1997, C.235) to set aside a portion of the Corporate Business Tax to provide the financial assistance for this program.

Eligible applicants are homeowners that have environmental issues as a result of a leaking oil tank. To qualify, you must fit these requirements:

●

Net worth of $500,000 or less (excluding primary residence)

●

Taxable income of less than $250,000 per year

How does Firstech Environmental help
First, Firstech Environmental will assist you in completing any paperwork necessary to process the application with NJDEP.

Second, Firstech Environmental will submit a remedial action work plan to the assigned NJDEP case manager to expedite the application process.

For more information on the State grants & loans, please see our comprehensive State grants & loans page outlining all the requirements.

For further information from the New Jersey DEP, contact Frank Pinto, NJDEP Bureau of Contract & Fund Management: Frank.Pinto@dep.state.nj.us.

NOTE:
Grants are subject to NJ State review, approval, and financial qualification(s)
